Annual Address of Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi 27th Jan 2004

Bismillah hirrahman nirraheem!

As you all know that the best worker of Silsila Azeemia, the best preacher, author, and poetess Saeeda Khatoon Azeemi is no longer with us in this world. The way she and her husband; Mr. Abdul Hafeez Butt strived with devotion, dedication and sincerity to spread the teachings of Silsila Azeemia, is an exemplary role model for all Azeemi brethren and sisters.

(O’ dear! These lights will spoil my vision. It’s too bright for me. I am a night-man. It’s too bright. In Kashmir, there was a light that spoiled my eyesight and it took me one and a half year to get well. I am too vulnerable and fragile though people think that I am a spiritual man.)

So our dear Saeeda is no longer with us. Today, I missed her very much when ladies and gentlemen were assembled there, for preparing the wreaths and perfuming them before lying them upon the shrine of His Divine Grace Qalandar Baba Auliya. She used to lead them all, and took great interest in the tasks of Muraqba Hall especially visiting the shrine and rehearsing of naats and her poetry, praising Qalandar Baba Auliya. Since she wasn’t here, so I perfumed a wreath on her behalf and included it in other wreaths. It’s the rite of the world and a norm that one who comes finally goes away ( I consider it a need too).

Had this coming and going not been there everything would have become inert and, God doesn’t want us to live an inert and useless life. And, the death, which we call death is the biggest of all the movements. Had there not been any death, everybody would have been suffering from inertia.

For instance, when we are born, we are only a day, then we move into our second day and then we become of three days. Then living day by day we grow to be one year of age and, then, we keep on growing year after year. So I understand this and, tell my friends and have written about it time and again. When a child enters his second day of life, actually his first day dies off. When a child grows into his third day, actually his two days die away. One day vanishes after its death. Thus, death overtakes these two days. And, when a child is of one year, his one year dies away. And, when he is sixty years of age and enters 61st year of his age, in fact, his sixty years have passed away.

Had these dying of moments and days not been there, think what would have happened? Consider a child’s first day is not over, it doesn’t pass away. What will happen? Even if he lives for sixty years he will remain one day old. When a child will remain of one day, he will not be able to sit, or move around nor will his consciousness develop. No energy will be there in him nor will his nerves and muscles be able to lift any weight. Now picture in your mind, what a horrible scene that will be, a child after his birth remains of one day. He is not growing remains of one day. It may give you goose bumps and it is very scary.

See! When a day dies, the child becomes of two days when the second day dies, the child becomes of three days. Thus, is death a blessing or a curse? Yes? Then why do we run away from death? Why are we so scared of death? This is the norm of this world, custom of the world.

(Arabic Text)

Whosoever is born here, whosoever has come into this world, he has to go away from here.

(Arabic Text)

When we look at this law of God, (Arabic text), we grow calm that everyone has to go. We are sitting here, our ancestors have passed away. When we will become ancestors we too will pass away. But only thing that matters, how did a man live his life after coming into this world? Did he do something for himself only or for others, too? Did he spend his life like animals or did he spend it in serving other creatures and, did the creatures were benefitted from him or not? When one lives his life in serving others and do well for others, such a person is surely missed that amongst hundreds of thousands of people because he was concerned about others, had love for the creatures of God and had the over whelming desire to spread the mission of the holy prophet (PBUH). When such a person leaves this world, the system suffers a jolt and the moving train stops. But, such is the God’s system, when a train stops, it does take some time but finally another driver takes over and the train starts moving ahead. Services of the departed driver are remembered. May God forgive Saeeda Khatoon and bless her with exaltation and all that she did for Silsila and sacrificed along with her husband, may Allah reward her. After one’s death this is the only thing one can do for the deceased person, to remember him in good words and the mission that has been left incomplete, must be carried on wholeheartedly. And, according to the orders of Allah and His Prophet (PBUH), we should be conveying rewards by doing virtuous deeds on behalf of the departed ones. Our felicitations and conveying rewards of good things for the departed ones benefit them greatly. It’s a separate law that how our conveying rewards reach the departed ones but it does benefit them. It is the statement of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), all the children, relatives and near and dear friends do for the departed ones, they show the gifts received from their friends and relatives to others, living with them in the realm of Airaaf. Look, this has been sent to me by my sister, this has been sent by my son, my father. All that we convey as a reward is presented to them in the same form and shape.

During my visits to Alam e Airaaf, I saw a woman sitting with a box of sweets. The box even had the brand name of the sweets on it. I wondered, in Airaaf the box of sweets with the name of its manufacturing firm! I inquired, how come this box of sweets from a particular shop? I was told, this lady was fond of sweets of that particular brand. Her relatives purchased the sweets of her liking from that shop and distributed it amongst the poor to convey the reward to her. As per law, since she liked the sweets of particular manufacturer, her conveyed reward was presented to her in the same packing so that she be delighted to have the sweets of her liking.

Likewise, the clothes that we give away to convey reward to people passed away into that realm are given to them as it is, these clothes have been sent to you by your elders. And, when we recite the verses of the holy Quran, Darood Shareef as to convey reward to the residents of that realm. The lights and luminescence of the words rehearsed are presented to them in the various shapes. For instance they are decorated with an illuminating crown of colorful lights or a beautiful turban of honor and sometimes diamond necklace made of brilliant lights is put around their necks. It means all that we convey as reward is delivered to them. Since Saeeda Khatoon is no longer with us, so as a token of our appreciation, for her services for the Silsila and to tribute her, you all please recite Surah Ikhlas three times and surah e Fateha for once and convey the reward to Saeeda Khatoon.

We conduct a Spiritual workshop here once every month. And, Alhamdulillah, we completed three years’ course this month. This course included both theory and practical. This time an essay was read out of the book Nazriya e Rang o Noor (Theory of Chromolucis) and all that I submitted to my students, I shall try to further elaborate it here.

One question that was asked, if a person wishes to be a spiritual person, how can he be one? And, the other question was, is it really possible for a person of this world to be a spiritual person? And, what method should be adopted for a science, which besides learning theory is to be practiced practically as well?

One thing that is very clear and all know it well that all parents want their children to be well educated. Parents sacrifice their money and their time to educate their children and to check their educational ability, they time and again ask them questions, too. In past times, a child was sent for schooling in his seventh year of age. Elders believed that if a child was sent to school before six years his mental growth would suffer. All that was necessary for him, his parents would teach him at home, he wasn’t sent to school. But now, it is considered that if you are not sending your child to school when he is not even three you want him to remain ignorant. Picture a child less than three years of age and a school. If this will continue, probably child’s name will be registered in the school before he is even born. We have dropped from six to less than three years and in future, this may decrease further.

Anyhow, when a child is admitted in a school he is put to pre-nursery, then in nursery and thus, three years are gone by. And, what he is taught in these three years? He is educated to identify a few colors, or draw few things on a paper and made to learn a, b, c, d and, counting up to 100. There are 28 letters in English alphabet. When a child learns these 28 letters in three years it means he spends about forty hours in learning ‘a’, learning ‘b’ also takes forty hours and for ‘c’ it also takes forty hours. That means his conscious is so weak and non-receptive that he learns a letter ‘A’ in forty hours, which extends to three years just to learn the alphabet. Then, the primer starts, books come in and in ten years, which are actually thirteen years, he develops this much awareness that there are various sciences. What they are and what their significance is? This is still not clear to him.

What these sciences are? Engineering, medical sciences and physics are few to name. If the child is brilliant, he decides what he would be learning. An engineer or a doctor. But, 99% cannot take the decision even after their matriculation. After doing his intermediate and going to college, he gets some guidance. The time that a child spends in ten years of his education, we calculated and in my book Ehsan aur Tassavaf its detail is given that he spends 35,600 hours to earn a matriculate. You all know what the status of matriculation. He is not even worthy to be recruited as an orderly. He is not even considered a literate person. He is hardly capable of writing and reading. He cannot write an application properly. And, he gains this much awareness in 35,600 hours. Then, he gets busy in advancing his education. And, then starts concerning about earning his livelihood.

The environment in which a child is born, is almost the same for everyone. Eating, drinking, sleeping, awakening, covering the body, respect of relations, marriage and wedding are all similar. These things are common in America, Russia, China or any other country. Everywhere marriage is a marriage, eating is eating, clothes are clothes, covering of body is covering of body and acquisition of knowledge is knowledge.  This is altogether another story that one person has more or less awareness than others. But, we cannot say that a child is something different from the worldly consciousness. There are about two hundred countries and the human population is over six billion, they all are almost in the same psychological state. Everyone calls a mother, a mother, a father is called father. Everyone calls a son, a son. Everybody calls a cloth, a cloth. Everyone drinks water, eats food, sleeps and awakes. Everyone works, be that the business or laboring, teaching or becoming a doctor, engineer or a scientist. Only one consciousness is prevalent in the world. You cannot say the British consciousness, Pakistani Conscious, Indian Conscious are different things. There could be gradation in the consciousness but you cannot classify them as Indian and Pakistani consciousness. This is not the case.

When a child is born and grows to maturity. Say in sixteenth or twentieth year he becomes mature. Though, according to spiritual point of view, one attains maturity in his fortieth year. But, since this is the cyber age, age of computer and TV, of inventions and discoveries, minds have become sharper, so you may say, one becomes mature in his 20th year of age. Now what does it mean? When a child is born, he has no conscious. He couldn’t even know his mother as mother and his father as father, his brother as brother. He has no sense of hot and cold, of wearing clothes. He couldn’t sit, couldn’t turn on his sides. He couldn’t remove a fly sitting upon him nor could save himself from a mosquito. When he couldn’t hush away a fly, it means he has no sense to fly it away. If he isn’t wearing the clothes, means he has no sense of covering himself. His conscious was completely blank. Nothing was there in it. Thus, for twenty years his conscious was irrigated by the consciousness that was prevailing in this world. The known human population of the world as we are told is over six billion. This clearly means that the child born today has the print of these six billion people upon his conscious. That means the way the six billion people think, the child in his twenties also thinks like them.

So what will be the definition of the conscious? It might appear difficult to you but, it’s not that difficult. It is just something new for you, therefore, it might exert some pressure upon your mind. Bear the pressure and don’t bother about it much. Suppose there is a child born today say, his name is Mahmood. What he will be after twenty years? You have no other answer that he is a reflection of the consciousness of six billion people. The way these six billion people are thinking, Mahmood also thinks like them. Now, how do the six billion people think? Since prophets are not coming anymore as prophet-hood has come to an end. And, the thought pattern of prophets is altogether different from these six billion people. So what these six billion are thinking? They think that all they have to do, they have to do it in this world. They have to live here and they will not die although they do observe that their grandparents didn’t survive and eventually they passed away. This world is just like an inn, people are coming and going, coming in and going out.

Thus, the maturity of consciousness means the child born with a spiritual consciousness today has lost it under the pressure of the consciousness of six billion people. And, when he wants to be a spiritual person, what he is supposed to do? What can be the method? Can you think of a way? The only way to be a spiritual person is to revert back to restore that original consciousness with which he was born and, which has been suppressed by the conscious of the six billion people. Or, can you think of any other way?

The children that fall sick, suffer mental disorders and become whimsical and have weird thoughts of all sorts. What do the psychiatrists do to treat their whimsical thoughts? They prescribe medicines, which help them to forget them. They give them tranquilizers, sedatives and sleep inducing drugs so that the thoughts that have stuck in their minds or are repeating or recurring, can be stopped from coming in and the brain could be numbed. And, that treats them, too. Likewise, if you want to have that conscious which is the spiritual conscious. Take an example of a lion that is covered by six billion covers, layer upon layer. And, all these covers, one upon the other, are hiding the original lion but, still forming the figure of the lion. And, if you want to get to the original lion, what will you do? You have to take off all these six billion covering veils to uncover the original lion. When these six billion veils will be taken off, the original lion will be exposed.

Please give it a thought, there are geniuses, fools, simpletons, clever. And, people with hatred and grudges and with love and compassion are all reflections and these six billion reflections have suppressed the original consciousness. How can this be abolished? And, how much time it would require? Let us think together, when the child comes into this world, six billion people consciously support him on every step of his life. If he deviates, first of all his parents intervene and tell him. No, son, you have to live and go along with the conscious of the six billion. You have to eat, drink and cloth according to them. You have to make house, work or do business, earn money and have a bank balance etc. like them.

Now, if out of these six billion people one says no, these six billion are not right. My original life, where there is no time and space, is my original spiritual life. And, where the Seen and Unseen are equal. I can witness the angels. When a child comes here, no one can deny that he was not used to witness the angels. That child was familiar with that system, which we call the celestial world. And, when he comes down from the heavenly world, this world over powers him so much so that the features of celestial world fades out completely.

We are blessed with children. When they grow up a little and, if we call them baby, they protest and say, ‘I have grown up, don’t call me baby.’ Why does he say so? Because, when he is called ‘baby’, it comes to his mind that he has grown and, this calling him ‘baby’ is different than the six billion people’s conscious. Thus, he rejects his spiritual conscious and has buried it in six billion’s conscious.

One of these six billions says, ‘No that’s entirely wrong.’ When we analyze this world, look at its rise and fall, and consider its reality and feel its formation, we come to this conclusion that this world is merciless, tyrant, faithless and ungrateful. The more you love it, the more it abhors you. When we construct a house, it doesn’t allow us to take it along. The checkbook for our built-up bank balance is also taken by the relatives when we depart. At least they should place the checkbook in our coffin as a consolation that our earning is going with us. The world is, too deceptive. This is nothing. Then comes the examples of the worthlessness of the world. We also encounter some of the kings in this regard. There was a king by the name of Shaddad, another was Nimrood and yet another one was Pharaoh. Some even declared themselves gods but, no one could remain here. Big castles or the huts of poor, huge mansions or bungalows, nothing remains and is eventually lost.

Then, what’s the use of all this? What’s all these strivings and efforts are for, when nothing is to remain? If these are for comfort in this life, we didn’t enjoy that even.

When a child was born he knew nothing about all these things. When he grew up, he had to worry about so many things at home, to help parents and to cooperate with them. Then he got married and he got busy in looking after his wife. Then God blessed them with children and the parents have nothing more important than to attend to their children. All they do, they do it for the sake of their kids. Do this and do that to fulfill the desires and demands of the children. I am not saying that parents shouldn’t be doing anything for their children. They should be but when we look at the results, we don’t find anything out of them. We remain empty handed.

Qadri sahib was one of my friends. May his soul rest in peace. He used to relate his poetry to me. One of his couplets which he related to me was:-

(Urdu text)

That is, brought up the baby-girl with so much efforts. And, the son-in-law took her away. For the son, did everything good or bad, used unfair means to earn, did forgeries, black marketing and took bribes. And, when he grew up and, stood up to be a helping hand. Daughter-in-law took him away. When the youth ended, wife started commanding things and ordering to bring this or that and still I was called “good for nothing”.

So when one analyzes oneself, what one did in his sixty or seventy years of age? Nothing special. Now as far as the children are concerned, if we didn’t do anything for our kids, what will happen? Qalandar Baba Auliya had told me, “God will not question us as to what we provided to our kids for meals or how we clad them.” Because the sustenance for the children is provided from God to the parents. When God provides food to the birds, ants, fish and mosquitoes. And, see He sent people here from London for mosquitoes, so that they could feed upon their pure blood. All are having  pimples when asked, mosquito bites, was the answer. Well, God sent the sustenance for mosquitos from London.

Actually everything is being provided with sustenance. When a child is born his sustenance is provided to him through his father, that is, because of the kids father gets sustenance, not otherwise. This is the law and remember it carefully, parents get sustenance due to their kids. They, too, get their own share of the sustenance. This is not that the kids get their sustenance due to their parents. Had this not been the case, all would have been turned upside down.

Once I asked Qalandar Baba Auliya, ‘There are so many birds, billions and trillions of birds, they eat and drink. And if we suppose for a moment, that the birds peck the grains left by the farmers. But it’s my personal observation that farmers don’t let them eat the grains. Even the worm eaten grains are collected and fed to cattle. And, cleans the area with broom. Then from where these bird feed them?

Qalandar Baba Auliya had said, “It’s the system of God Almighty, when the flocks of birds flying in the air feel hungry and think that they must have something to eat. And, they descend in plains, deserts, jungles and mountains. Before their feet could touch the ground, their feed becomes available for them and they peck it.

Nana Tajjuddin Auliya in a couplet has stated, (Urdu text)

The word ajgar means quadrupeds, punchi means birds and chakari is to work or labor. Animals don’t work in any factory nor do they labor. And, these birds don’t shop, nor sell things in markets. Das Maluka, (Servant of God) proclaims that all are fed by God.

Therefore, if parents think that they work and labor to feed their children, this approach is wrong. Rather they are having sustenance due to their kids. Indeed their own fortune is also there. You might have heard of many parents who are poor, homeless and in destitute.

A lady had come to me. She said, “I had told my husband, I won’t be able to survive without you in this world. And he had asked, how long will you be able to exist? A week or a fortnight at the most, I had replied.” Then it happened that her husband passed away and she started to wait for her demise. A week passed, she waited and waited and, then there was the anniversary, then the second and third anniversaries. Then, she was observing the tenth anniversary of her husband’s death. She said to me, “How strange it is, I used to think that I will not be able to survive without him more than a week. I remained sick, too. But after my husband’s demise, not only that I survived but got well and I wedded all my kids and am still living.”

So you see there are people who want to do everything for their children and parents should do but they can’t do and the children do live without their parents, a well-off life. They build houses and have businesses, too, without parent’s aid.

So, as far as the sustenance is concerned, it is God’s responsibility to provide it. Qalandar Baba Auliya had said, “In the hereafter, parents will be asked, how well did you bring up your kids, how well was their brought up. They will not be asked, what did you feed them and how well you dressed them up?” Every parent wants to feed and clothe their kid better than they got for themselves. This is but natural. But, when a serious-minded person, a person with a neutral approach and a thoughtful person considers, assesses, searches and evaluates the reality of the world, he gets to only one conclusion. Nothing will go along with him when he will leave this world. He will go alone. When he is born, others clad him and, he dies others put cloth on him; coffin him. Then, what’s the use of this world?

Then, it dawns upon him, there is another world after this one and life is infinite over there. Here we hardly live up to eighty years. Here in Karachi few live beyond 55/60. Age limit is sliding down here. Then, we say, what have we done? Then he searches, what are these days and nights, months and years? What capital we have for this life? And, when he finds him helpless, poor and penniless then he thinks done is done. Now I should prepare for the journey of the next phase of my life. There must be some way, some passage for that world. And, when this man, who is this one man? Who is this man amongst the six billion people? He is the one whose conscious imprinted with the conscious of the six billion people and these were printed there in twenty years.

You have a plank and you have something written upon it. But, when you would want to write something else upon it, what will you do? Obviously, will wash that surface. Will apply something to cover the written thing and then, write upon it. What you have to do to get the consciousness of the one and the only God after revolting against the consciousness of six billion people? What will you do? What has to be done? Obviously, have to wash away the consciousness of six billion people. Have to dim the effects of the six billion’s consciousness. You won’t be able to inscribe anything new, unless the print of the six billion people is not erased and unsubscribed. Can it be overwritten otherwise?

One man is on one side and the six billion people are on the other. Or, to say, one man has revolted against six billion people. He says, the conscious of the six billion people is not wanted. To wit, not that much which spoils my life here. So, how much willpower is required to erase that print of six billion people. Tell me, how much willpower will be required? At least equal to six billion people rather more than that. And, then, besides revolting against the norms of the six billion people he has to live with them too. He has to live with them otherwise won’t be able to survive. He has to live and combat too. So what will be the way out? The way out will be, suppose you are in your twenties. It means in these twenty years the print of the conscious of six billion people has been inscribed in your mind. What will be the method to erase or dim it? Dim it by applying a layer of mud upon it so something else could be inscribed over its surface. Its method will be to recede back day by day. If you are twenty years of age, you have to recede back day by day from that conscious of twenty year. There are 365 days in a year. Thus on 19th year and 365th day of your life you have to get back to 19th year and 364th day. Thus 63rd, then 62nd and so on, you will get on to19th year. Thus, you have to reverse and, when you have negated yourself, you have washed yourself and scratched out the conscious of six billion people, what will happen? In your twentieth year the conscious of six billion people was operating in you. You went back into your 19th year. Thus, from 19th you reversed to 18th, 17th, 15th 10th, 5th, 2nd and then to 1st year. The way you advanced from one day to two, third and fifth and so on and you reached into your twentieth year, in the same way, you have to reverse. Ostensibly it seems impossible but, in spirituality, it is possible.

A man of twenty years can become a child of one day. Method to do that is quite simple. Before going to sleep, daily reduce one day. It seems strange, how can we reduce one day. And, what if we are forty. Reduce one day. How will it reduce? Out of forty years, reverse one day. Think of all the thoughts, feelings, emotions and states and imagine that you are not of forty years but one day less than forty years. When you will daily spend 10 to 20 minutes to reduce a day, in 365 day you will reduce one year. In this way in 365 days you will reduce one year. But that will take 40 years to reduce back to be of one day. I am not good at calculations. But to reduce forty year it will take forty years. Yes or No?

Then, what can be done? We have to search for that life pattern and explore the laws governing life and the belt of laws upon which life is moving. What is that belt? This belt is the human conscious upon which, the life depends. Human life depends upon thoughts; the information. If there is no information, there is no life. Why not? Because it’s the law. If no urge of hunger is emerging from within or from your inner self you cannot eat anything. You cannot drink water if there is no urge in you to irrigate intestines or can you? Mashallah so many of you educated people are here, please tell me, if you wake up in the morning and your mind is so dull that it doesn’t occur to you that you have to go to office, how many of you will reach your office? If this thought doesn’t come to the minds of hundred people, how many of them will go to office? Yes, why not?

When you go to office, who went there, you or your thought? The thought took you to the office, you didn’t go there or did you go there? Then, why are you saying that we went to office? If the thought of office hadn’t occur to you, you couldn’t have gone there. Then, who went to office. You or your thought? You went to office under the trance of the thought. If thought hadn’t took you to your office, you would had been in the bed. So on and so forth…every act of life depends upon the thought. Thought comes from somewhere, which is perceived by the mind and ascribes meanings to it. When the mind ascribes meanings to a thought, nerves get activated and as a result your muscles move to make you move around.

It is exactly like a car with its tank full of fuel. What would it mean to move it? It is as if it occurs to car that it should move. Unless plug won’t spark, combustion won’t happen and the car will not move. No matter how costly it is, it cannot move if the spark is not there. Similar is the situation with man. If a thought doesn’t occur to him to do one or the other thing, he cannot do it. He will remain sitting lost-fully.

You might have seen such people. They appear to be just sitting and wondering. Not even eating. Growing weaker and weaker. There might be many doctors in audience. They can tell. Aren’t there patients who keep on staring in the air? Even the thought to have meal doesn’t occur to them. If someone gives them, they eat, if not, they don’t. They even forbid even if they are offered. Then, what life depends upon? Yes, tell me loudly!

I am asking you to say loudly so that I could know if you are sleeping or not? Listen, I think my speech has grown bit heavy. It is more about the law. So those who are awake raise their hands and, those who are sleeping they are not to raise their hands.

(Most of the audience raised their hands.)

Mashallah that’s good. You are all awake.

So, what does life depend upon?

Life depends upon information. And, what’s the source of information? This we all know, the world is not the source of information. Source of information, according to its zone, is altogether another realm. Barzakh (Veil), Loh-e Mehfooz (Preserved Scripturum) and Kitab ul Mubeen (The Book Open and Manifested) etc. but the actual source of information is God.

(Arabic text) (Surah Al Inaam: 162)

O’ Prophet (PBUH) say, all my prayers, my life and death, my thinking, my eating and drinking are for Allah.”

You may say, ‘all my living, dying, offering of Prayers, Fasting, sleeping and awakening are subject to thoughts from God. All are subject to the information. Allah is the source of information. When man comes to know this law, he becomes aware, when he was born, there was nothing on his part. He came here because God sent him here. So, he is a guest of Allah, he is a traveler on his way, on the journey appointed for him from God. God who sent him here, made this earth for his comfort.

The earth is neither a quagmire in which man sinks, nor it is hard like rock upon which if one slips may injure his head. The earth that has the ability to grow things and produces things for man’s consumption. The earth that provides shelter for man and nurtures man like a mother and after his death conceals all his stench. God created that earth upon which we construct houses, the earth where wind blows, gases mix together, and waves collide to shower energy to man.

Had the crust of earth not been there or the outer atmosphere had not been there, where would have been the air? Where had been the oxygen and all the gases because of which earthlings survive? But, ungrateful man seldom bothers to consider that God arranges all the sustenance for him before sending him down upon the earth from the realm of the souls. Hotels and inns were already there for him. Allah made the canopy of sky from which the rain pours down. Made all the oceans where stormy waves and tides collide to produce vapors that rise to form clouds. If these vapors do not rise, the clouds would not be formed and winds would not carry them from north to south, east to west, and from west to west. If clouds do not collide we cannot have a drop of rain. Who did all this for you? Who did?

Audience…Allah

And, for whom did God create this earth? Man, for you! But what did this ungrateful man do? He gave priority to this God created land over Allah. What a farce!

It is said, God cannot be witnessed. Then, it is said, oh yes God can be seen only after death. Fine! That means, death is the way that can enable you to witness God. God who made mother for us and filled her breasts with milk for us and put love in her heart for us and made father to be compassionate for us, made the earth and sky, sun and moon, don’t you want to meet Him? Do you? How many of you want to meet with Allah?

(Every audience raised his hand)

Good, all want to meet Allah but, you can’t meet Him without dying. Tell me how many of you want to die?

Nobody raised his hand.

Isn’t this kidding with Allah? Aren’t we deceiving ourselves?

(Arabic text) (Surah Aly Imran: 54)

Man plots against God. God plans much better than man. You feel happy to visit a beloved and benefactor or you feel scared of him?

When you and, a spiritual will not but, the religious scholars whom you follow, have decided that you will not die then, how will you meet Allah? This is not the case. Life and death are important parts of the lifespan. Next day of man’s life does not come unless the present day is not passed away. God has said in the holy Quran, we kill you daily at night and resurrect you in the morning. When you die for twelve hours and are born again daily then why are you afraid of dying? Don’t you say, a sleeping person is like a dead one?

Spiritual sciences do not say that you will meet Allah after death. They say, what do you mean by meeting God? Meeting is to see someone who is away. Whereas God says, (Arabic text) (Surah Zariyat: 21)

I am in you, why don’t you see me?”

We don’t see Him because the print of the six billion people’s conscious has become a wall for us. That wall is hindering us from seeing Him. If we could dominate Allah’s print upon the Conscious of six billion people then the entire world, the heavens, the sun, moon and the stars can be ours.

(Arabic text) (Surah Jashiya: 13)

All that is there in the heavens and in the earth is all for you.”

(Arabic text) (Surah Nahal: 16)

And, we subjugated the day and night and the sun, the moon and the stars have been given to your command.”

Where is this ‘given to your command’? That’s obscured by the six billion’s conscious. What is this six billion’s conscious. Living only in this world. Whereas we have to depart and pass away no matter what we do, we have to leave, have to go. There cannot be a bigger lie than we will live. No matter what you do, ultimately you have to die and, leave this world.

A story was published in the monthly Rohani Digest. A man in Jerusalem saw the Death Angel gazing him. Wherever he would go the angel would also be there staring at him. The man got scared and went to Hazarat Solomon and requested him to command air to arrange to shift him to India. Solomon obliged him and ordered the wind to transport him to India. The wind carried that man to a city of India. Death Angel also reached there. The man said, why are you after me? I brought you here, the angel replied and drew out his soul. So he died then and there. Then, the Death Angel appeared before Solomon. Solomon asked, has my Lord sent you to carry me to Him? The angel said, No, I have come to thank you for helping me. But, for what? Asked Solomon in astonishment. Angel told him about that man whose soul was to be drawn in a city of India and he was there in Jerusalem. And, Solomon arranged to transport him to India.

(Arabic text) (Surah Baqarah: 36)

Reside for an appointed time.” So at an appointed time you have to leave. The word (Arabic Text)“heen”, according to some, can be ‘the place’.

So you did me a great favor and ordered the wind to shift him to India where he was destined to die. I was wondering, what he was doing here? As I was ordered to take out his soul in India’, the angel told Solomon and thanked him for the favor.

No one can escape death. God has appointed the time. If that is to eighty years Death Angel cannot dare to take you away in your seventy-fifth year. If that happens he will be sternly censured. It is his responsibility to see that you complete your term and he has to guard you and to ensure that you do not escape before time. Qalandar Baba Auliya used to say, “Death Angel is the biggest guard and how strange man is sacred of his own guard.”

Holy Prophet (PBUH) has said, “Momin longs to embrace death.” Mind it, embracing death does not mean to die physically. Please clear you minds on this point. Death does not mean to annihilate. Embracing death means to remain ever ready to shift to another realm. Just be ready for the journey. And, readiness is not a bad thing. A believer longs for passing away. If we do not have the desire can we be amongst the believers? Where do we stand?

Death is the name of spatial shift. For instance, you come here from Muraqba Hall, you left Muraqba Hall to come here. Then, you again moved from this auditorium to Muraqba Hall, that is, you left the auditorium. Thus, it is just a journey.

Why are we so scared of death? Because the conscious of six billion is so much interested in this world that it doesn’t like to leave this world not even for the sake of God. If the print of the conscious of six billion people will abolish, we will stop fearing death rather we will start looking forward to it. One doesn’t feel scared of seeing one’s beloved but longs to see him.

Method to develop this longing is to go back into your past, day by day, till you were a day old child, or to say, perform Muraqba to visit your past on daily basis, reversing the time backward. When you will revert day by day you will advance towards liberty from the conscious of six billion people.

As far as the question of forty days and forty years. That means we have advanced to forty years of age and now we have to revert back. Will that not take another forty years, according to six billion people’s conscious? For that God has said, when man takes one step towards Him, God advances by ten steps towards him. When you will spend an hour to revert back to past, the past will advance towards you by ten hours. Then, God has also said, “When a person walks towards me, I advance towards him running.” If you will reject, the conscious of six billion people…not to finish it, if you will try to finish it, you will go mad and lunatic…and show the courage and strive…what does God’s running towards you mean? No distances exist for Him.

(Arabic text)

God is such a Being who does not sleep or drowse. No distances for Allah. So when he will come running, that’s quite possible that your one day’s journey towards Him may cover the forty years. But, movement on your part, taking an initiative is your responsibility. Spiritualism is not a difficult thing and, it is a very difficult thing at the same time. It is not difficult because you cannot live without spirituality. If you get to know that soul is our real self, this is spirituality. Spirituality is your reality. Once you have this certitude, there is no distance. But if you think, this material body is everything, then there are only distances, distances and distances. How strange it is, it’s our routine observation that we cannot move around without soul, cannot have food, cannot do any business. Without soul no woman can be a mother nor can a man be a father. How strange it is that despite knowing this fact, man considers this material body is everything.

Muraqba is such an activity that every prophet of God performed. You know the meanings of the word Muraqba. You have read books, booklets and articles, have heard about it in lectures and discourses. It only means to search one’s own reality and gather information about oneself is Muraqba.

When you will perform Muraqba and search your reality, analyze your physical existence, and think of the process of life and death, it will transpire that this body is subjugated to the soul. It has no movement of its own. I am sitting here and suddenly have a heart attack and I expire, my soul leaves me, will I be able to continue with my address to you? Then, who is addressing you, me or my soul? You are listening to me or my soul? All that I am uttering is the utterance of the soul. You are listening to me or my soul? Likewise, who is listening to me, you or your soul? Don’t feel odd please, if you all die and, I keep on speaking, will you be able to listen to me? What does it mean? Soul is listening, soul is speaking, isn’t that so? If there is no soul in me, I am a dead body, will I be able to speak? So who is speaking? If you are a dead body, will you hear me? Who is hearing?

You just laughed now, who laughed? Have you ever seen a dead body laughing? If a dead body ever laughs, all the people around will run away that some bad spirit has entered him…run. Call in the Molvi sahib to recite Surah Yaseen, so that the soul may not get back into the body.

Thus, the soul is listening, soul is speaking, the soul told you to get here in the auditorium and you came here. Had there been all dead bodies sitting before me, could have I addressed to them? I would be saying, why should I speak to dead bodies? How very strange is the fact! When a dead body is there before us, we believe with certitude that the soul is not there in it so it cannot speak, cannot hear. And when we are alive, we say, what? What’s the soul? This is we who are speaking, we are having food. Does this make any sense, is this sensible or foolishness? Tell me in a loud voice, are you sensible or foolish?

Audience…Foolish!

When you admitted that you are foolish, why are you tiring me, I am sitting here and talking to you since long. Ok… no problem…I am not feeling tired…Main thing is that we accepted, we are foolish, as our observation is, we are foolish, then shouldn’t we try to get rid of our foolishness? How can we get rid of our foolishness? How? Tell me! By becoming a doctor? No! Then, how? By finding a teacher who could tell us some sensible things whether he is sensible enough or not but talks sensible things. Ok, you found a teacher. Now what will be your responsibility?  Your responsibility is to listen to him and accept what he tells. Whether you pay him any fee or not but listen to him and accept what he tells you. He is telling you that if you want deliverance you have to get to know your past life. Unless one will not know one’s past, one will not be able enter the conscious of a day old child.

Once Qalandar Baba Auliya, talking about the worldly approach said and, this is worth listening, you can practice it too. It will let you spend your life comfortably. He said, “Look, in seventh year of age, a child is sensible enough, he has his likings and disliking, he knows a bit of good and bad. But that seven years’ old child is not independent. He depends upon his parents. He has his liking and disliking but he cannot go to market to shop shoes or suits of his choice. He is delighted to receive what he likes. If he doesn’t likes it, he still wears it. Isn’t that so? You all grownups have passed through that phase of your life. Once you were seven years of age then, you grew to your present age. Yes or no? Or, you grew skipping the seventh year of your life?

Ok. Recall few things when you were seven. For instance, going to school or mosque and punishments received from the teachers. It reminds me of my teacher. He used to beat me more than others. Someone asked him, why you punish him more than others. He said, he is an odd person, whatever I tell him to learn, he learns quickly. Obviously, when I learnt and memorized that I was told to learn, I used to enjoy my free time and, when he would notice that he would hold my head in his thighs and hit my back with his elbows. I still remember him and his punishments. It did benefit me by strengthening my back. Even in this age, I walk straight. It’s the blessing of my teacher. Ok. Now let’s be serious.

All of you to close your eyes, Recite Darood Shareef three times and Ya Hayyo ya Qayyom, three time and, imagine you are in seventh year of your age. Recall any incident of that time. We shall do this for five minutes and see how many of us could go back to their past. If you could recall anything of that age, you will get back to seventh year of your age. If you are thirty, you will get back to your seventh year and, if you are sixty years of age now, you will get back to your seventh year of age.

(After five minutes)

Bismillah hirrahman nirraheem.(Arabic Text)

Open your eyes very slowly. Don’t open them abruptly. Now someone from the first row stand up and tell me what did he or she see?

(One of the audiences in the first row) I saw my teacher asking me questions from the next grade syllabus. When I said, I know the answers, he slapped me and said you are answering the questions of the next grade. My external examiner asked him to let me write the answers on the slate. And, I wrote them there.

Anyone else?

(One of the audiences… I saw myself ditching the class and after crossing the railway line I reached my home.)

Ok… someone else!

(One of the ladies… My father brought a hammer and other iron tools and placed it in the gallery, during load shedding when he tried to pick it up in the dark, the hammer dropped on my head and injured me. I remember my father taking me to the hospital in heavy rain.

(One of the ladies) I saw. It was the third birthday of my sister and we had the cake.)

Ok…it gives us a fair idea that we can go back to our seventh year…Those who couldn’t see anything…raise their hands!

See how many of you didn’t raise their hand. This was the purpose of this activity to show you that a man in his fifties could travel back to his seventh years of age in five minutes.

We have come to know of two things. One, if someone travels back into his past, his speed of thought is more than his speed in the present. For instance, if you go back to your past physically it would take 33 years to reach your seventh year from your 40th year. But, you travelled back to your seventh year in five minutes. And, if someone travels back at this speed how long will it take him to reach the stage of one day old baby? This mean it is very much possible and easy to travel back into the past. If someone travels back, down the memory lane for five minutes, how long will it take him to get to first day of his life? It means, journeying down memory lane is not only possible but, very easy too because he comes into the present after living the past. He has travelled from past to present. He is not journeying from present to past. Prints of past are there in his mind so he can recall them easily.

I was telling you about Qalandar Baba Auliya’s saying for seventh year. He had said, “A child of seven years depends upon his parents. And, they provide him everything about which he cannot even fancy.” That is, parents will buy him a toy, clothes and shoes which he had never even desired. Father or the mother passing by a market upon seeing a suit, think that will look good on my child and they buy it. This also happens that child is busy in playing and mother is chasing him to have something. She is carrying the meal in her hand, chasing him and asking him to have it. Even putting a morsel or two in his mouth. Qalandar Baba Auliya also said, “If a man in sixtieth, the fortieth year of life could make his seventh year’s mind prevalent upon him, God looks after him as the parents do for their child of seven.” So be a seven year old child. Try it. I did try and alhamdulillah I have succeeded, too.

A voiceless sage, sage is never voiceless. A voice is with the sage. He is never voiceless. When a man depends upon Allah, nature provides him everything although nature is already providing us all. So the first thing for you is to look for your past. Childhood is always very pleasant and enjoyable thing for playing, running and jumping without any worry. When two kids have a row over something. They settle down quickly and start playing again without having any hard feelings against each other. But when two grownups have a row amongst themselves, their hard feeling become a knot and they refuse to patch up. But, if you have the qualities of a seven-year child in you, if you ever pick up a fight, you will patch up without hard feelings.

And, the second thing is to see, what is your reality? You came from the realm of the Souls. And, the Realm of the Souls is past, present or future?

Audience…Past!

When you will die, where will you go?

Audience…in the past!

Yes…will go back to past…go back to Allah…Allah is the Past.

(Arabic text) Surah (Baqarah: 156)

Everything is coming from God and is reverting back to Him. Eternity is nothing but past. And we have to return to eternity. We came here from there. It’s a passage that we are travelling from the Realm of the Souls into the material world, then on our return get into the Alam e Airaf (High Place) and, then again into the Realm of the Souls. The more one is closer to God, the more past keeps on turning in him. And the more away is one from God, the more future will keep on bothering him. How strange this is, we don’t remember or recall, which we have passed through. And, we are only concerned about that veil or covering. What will happen tomorrow? Why don’t we remember what happened yesterday? Why are we bothering about tomorrow? A man in his fifties is bothering about tomorrow; what will happen to me? Only that will happen which had been happening to you for the last fifty years. May Allah protect us and help us in understanding all this. It’s already been late.

First we shall chant the holy names of Allah and, after that will perform Muraqba for ten minutes. After that, don’t know whether you will depart or, I will, but anyhow, we will depart.

(Arabic text)

Recite Darood Shareef 11 times.

(Arabic text)

And 11 times, Ya Hayyo, Yaa Qayyom. After that 11 times breathing exercise. This exercise is to inhale through both nostrils very slowly till your lungs are full and exhale or blow out through rounded lips. After this, we shall enchant collectively and then perform Muraqba. Switch off or dim the lights.

Now, I shall rehearse and you join me.

(Arabic text)

Now let us perform Muraqba. All those who are in any Silsila, Naqashbandia, ……….Qadria will think of their Mentor with closed eyes and imagine that lights of their mentor are absorbing in them. And, those who are still not inducted in any Silsila, will imagine that blue lights are falling upon them from the sky like a beam and are absorbing in their brains….. This Muraqba is to be performed in a relaxed posture.

(Arabic text)

(Arabic text)

You all came from far away cities, from other countries, you traveled in this cold and despite our efforts, you faced inconveniences, especially the mosquitos. But we cannot do anything about these mosquitos. Once the mosquitos complained to God that wind blows them away and doesn’t let them feed. They were aggrieved. God said, I have to hear both the accused and accuser before giving any verdict. Mosquitos agreed and God asked the angels to summon the wind. Wind came and the mosquitos flew away.

We did our best to save you from mosquitos but they foiled all our efforts. You may consider it a test of your endurance. May Allah bless you with delight! You come here and you feel delighted but I think I am more delighted to see you all. When so many of you come here to see me, I feel blessed. I cannot reach you all individually so when you come, I feel great that the saplings, which I had planted are growing and God has been kind to me. By the Grace of God, due to the intercession of holy Prophet (PBUH) and because of Qalandar Baba Auliya’s favors these are growing into big trees and I fancy that these growing trees will soon start bearing fruits, too. And, when the seeds of those fruits will be sown, more trees will sprout and more trees and more fruits will grow. And, the message of our Silsila will reach every house. It will be mentioned in the heavens. Angels will bow before God that the devoted fans of Qalandar Baba Auliya have tried to glorify the holy name of Allah and tried to spread peace and calm amongst the people in distress, misery and restlessness.

Alhamdulillah, since three four days, I am seeing people with smiling faces cheering and that gave me great satisfaction that in the era of so much distress and misery, under the umbrella of Qalandar Baba Auliya there is small place where people gather forgetting their worries and pains. All live like brethren and stay cheerfully. Even if they have to complain, they do it with a smile on their face and not with a frown.

It is a great blessing of God. And, very kind of you to come here in this cold weather. This time it was the Eid as well and people of our management had thought that there will be lesser participation because of the Eid ul Azha. But you showed great courage and devotion, love and reverence for the Silsila Azeemia and Qalandar Baba Auliya that you preferred coming here to pay tribute to Qalandar Auliya and opted to celebrate Eid here. This created great festivity. May you stay blessed!

If there have been any shortcoming on our part in hosting you, please excuse us with a big heart because in such a big gathering many shortcomings could remain there. You are the guests of Qalandar Baba Auliya. Very important for us. We take it as an honor for us that you blessed us to serve you. It is my honor that you came here for the sake of my august mentor; Qalandar Baba Auliya and stayed despite all the discomforts.

May Allah bless you with His protection and keep you safe. May the future of your children be bright and you see them happy. And, may Allah bless me with success and when I be in the court of the holy Prophet, I not be ashamed that I failed in carrying out the small task, which he wanted me to do. But your love has encouraged me that your presence will in sha Allah support me in my success. Please you too pray.

(Arabic text)

Assalam o Alykum… Good bye…May Allah support and help you !
