Annual Address of Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi 27th Jan 2013

(Recitation)

(Arabic text) (Surah Hashar: 21-24)

(Arabic text) (Surah Noor: 35)

(Arabic text) (Surah Aly Imran: 190)

Respected teachers, honorable elders, dear friends, children and the shining suns, moons and stars of Silsila Azeemiya.

Assalam o Alykum!

After countless praises to Allah, this humble servant of God welcomes you with greetings. May Allah make all of you the light of my eyes, bliss for my heart, and the center of my aspirations. I am grateful to you for sparing your precious time and spending money to come here all the way from far away to listen to my submissions about Allah, the mission of the Friends of Allah, and ways to promote it.

May Allah bless you all with happiness and keep you, your children, parents, elders, students and teachers in safety and bless you with long life. Amen

Respected audience, friends and dear children, sons and daughters!

I just recited three verses of the Holy Quran before you. I have plenty of time but your time is precious and you have come from far away so I'll try to explain these verses briefly.

I, very humbly ask you to pray that Allah may bless me with the ability to say what I want to share with you and I pray that may Allah bless you all with the enlightening meanings of the holy sayings of Allah and to follow the straight path. Amen.

The first verse that I recited is from Surah Hashar. (Arabic text) (Surah Hashar:21) "If Allah had revealed this Quran upon the mountains, they would have disintegrated and God explains things to people by giving examples so that people could ponder, delve and comprehend.

And, what was the second verse that I had recited? Can you recall?

It was the verse of the Surah Noor. (Arabic text)

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth and the example of that Light is….. (Arabic text) (Surah Noor: 35)

Much time would be needed to translate the whole verse so I will restrict myself to (Arabic text). Allah is saying that He explains things to people by giving examples and parables.

(Arabic text) And, Allah is encompassing all the knowledge.

And, what was the third verse?

(Arabic text) (Surah Aly Imran: 190)

Apparently, there are contradictory differences between the heavens and the earth i.e. the earth appears to be below and the sky seems to be above.  And, the differences in the day and night are the signs for the people who think and ponder….the ones who are intelligent and intellectual. You heard the brief translation of the sayings of Allah. Now the situation is

(Arabic text) If We had revealed this Quran...

(Arabic text) Upon the mountains...

(Arabic text) They would have broken down into pieces because of fright.

What does it mean? Tell me! Mashallah, you are all well-educated people.

If the Quran had been revealed to the mountains. The mountains which are hard rocks and solid in form, would have broken down into pieces if this Quran had been revealed upon them.

I think there is a message for the entire mankind, for all Muslims, and for all scholars that there is power in the Quran. There is more power in Quran than Atom and if that had been revealed upon the mountains they would have disintegrated into pieces. Please give it a thought. What does the revelation of the Quran mean?

Does it mean to place the Holy Quran upon the mountain? Even if billions of copies of the Holy Quran are placed on the top of a hill, the mountain will not even move slightly or will it?

Allah is saying if the secrets and the enlightenment contained in the Holy Quran has been revealed upon the mountains, the mountains would have disintegrated and finished.

I want to ask you a question. We are Muslims, we read and recite the Holy Quran and even lift it over our heads then, why don't we feel any shiver? Why don't we feel any pressure from the enlightenment of the Holy Quran? I read the Quran twenty times, ten times or one hundred times...What does that mean?

(Arabic text) If We had revealed the Quran upon the mountains, they would have disintegrated into pieces because of the fright of Allah.

We don't even have nose bleeding. We don't feel any load and we happily read the entire Quran. Tell me, how much burden do you feel? If you feel any burden, you must be a brave person. But actually, you do not feel any burden.

(Arabic text) This means there is such a force, power, and energy in the Quran. If you, me, Muslims, our scholars, and scientists had been acquainted with it, they would have conquered the world or not? And, you say how it is possible? This has already happened. In the era of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) his companions were enlightened with the luminescence of the holy Quran, and within a few years, they had established Allah's rule over the world. And, we don't even have nose bleeding.

What type of Muslim are we? We do offer Prayers. Praying is mandatory. No one can quit. It is Allah's command. How many Muslim brethren are sitting here? As far as I can see, Alhamdulillah, I am seeing caps and caps all over.

Anyone of you, raise your hand who recites the holy Quran and has a goose bump, or your blood flow increases. What does it mean?

(Arabic text) If We had revealed the Holy Quran upon the mountains, they would have disintegrated out of fright of Allah. Mountain means a hard and solid thing. If the Quran had been revealed upon the mountain, it would have broken down into pieces due to the fright of Allah. And, it has no effect upon us. Our blood pressure never changes. If we have a bit more salt than our routine, we are enraged or when we take medicine, we start suffering from high blood pressure.

So many of my brethren, sisters, sons, and daughters are sitting here. Those raise their hands if they ever had any feelings of Allah's presence during the recitation of the Holy Quran and they cried or shivered because of the grandeur of Allah.

What is this all? Why is this so? It means that we read and recite the Holy Quran. The effects of the luminance of the Quran might have been affecting our souls but no effects happen to our bodies. And, if the impact upon the body is everything and you say that if the hand is put in the fire, it will burn. If a thorn pricks the foot, it will hurt but if the soul quits the body and the energy is finished, will there be any effect?

My dear friends, children, and elders! Will it not be right to say that we are all dead bodies, corpses, and carcasses? We are not alive. It must have had an effect if we had been alive. For instance, if a needle is pricked into a living person, it affects. Yes, or no?

Audience... Yes, it affects.

If a spark hits a hand, will it burn?

Audience...Yes it will.

Leave this spark aside. Tell me, if someone expresses his anger, does it affect or not?

Audience... Yes, if affects.

And, if a person talks to you with a smile, does it have any effect?

Audience...Yes, it does!

If you have a bitter thing, will it affect you?

Audience...Yes, it will feel bitter!

If you have a sweet thing?

Audience...Yes, that too has its effect.

Then why the Quran doesn't affect us? Why Allah's saying has no effect?

I'll not tell you the meaning of it. Anyone from the first row of my audience stands up and tell me. Ok, Jammi Sahib! please stand up and tell.

Jammi Sahib: Yes sir, you are right. The main reason is that we don't read it carefully and then our main problem is not to act upon it. Therefore, the Quran must be read with understanding.

Yes, you are right. He (Jammi Sahib) is one of my teachers. He is the Dean of a University. All that you have studied, if you had studied all like you study the Quran, then? Then, what had happened?

Jammi Sahib: Yes sir.

Then? What had happened?

Jammi Sahib: In reality, this should have been studied like the Quran.

No. No. This is not the thing. All that you have studied. You have done your M.A. or PhD or all that you have done, if you, I, or all the audiences had studied like we read the Holy Quran, will these degrees have been conferred upon you?

Jammi Sahib: No, never.

And, if you hadn't had the degree, could you have this job at the university?

Jammi Sahib: No, not at all.

Thank you. Please have your seat.

Jammi Saib: Thank you, Sir!

He is one of my teachers. It's not me, a great teacher of a university is saying that if the syllabus of M.A. is not studied with understanding, you wouldn't get a degree or a job. Yes, or no?

Say it loudly. Yes, or no?

Ok. And, if I don't study the Quran with understanding, will I go to Paradise?

Audience...No!

So, when will you be able to get into the Paradise? Say it loud!

Then? What are we doing? What we are up to?

Everyone is desirous of Paradise. And, that's right, too. We have to have good hope from Allah. Allah says, (Arabic text) (Surah Zumar: 53) "Don't be disappointed with My mercy”.

But, when we can't get a job due to studying without comprehension then, can the formulae of the conquest of the Universe be revealed to us by studying Quran without its proper comprehension?

Audience...No!

When that will not happen then, what's the use?

(Arabic text) (Surah Jasiya: 13) "We subjugated all that is there in the heavens and the earth for human beings." This is what the Quran is saying. And, if we study the Quran without any comprehension, can the conquest of the universe be possible?

Audience... No, it's not possible!

Where is the Paradise? Is it in the heavens or somewhere else?

Audience...In the heavens,

When it's in the heavens and the heavens haven't been conquered then, how will you get into Paradise?

(Arabic text) (Surah Aly Imran: 190)

Signs of Allah open up only for those who think, ponder and consider things with care, wisdom, and intellect.

What is Science?

Isn't Science a result of search and meticulous thinking? You may call it research, exploration, finding, or thinking. When a scientist doesn't search and doesn't advance on the path of exploration, after setting an angle of search, he/she cannot bring forth the science. Conquest of the universe is not possible if we will not study the Quran with comprehension.

You may say that study of the Quran is very difficult. When studying English is easy then, why the Quran cannot be easy? Actually, we don't study it.

It is my experience and you are also witness to it. When a child is two or two and a half years of age. Their mother pulls them out of bed and clads them in school uniform despite their crying and weeping, half asleep and half awake, their father takes them to the school to dump them there. Yes, or no?

Their crying and weeping continue in the school, too. And, they fall asleep there. Yes, or no?

Do you do the same for the Quran?

Do you do the same for understanding the Quran?

Where the child is crying or fussing about, it’s winter or summer, it's raining or there is a hail storm or an earthquake, there can't be any off from the school. There should be no off, I agree, but, for the Quran, no such punctuality is observed. You all are my friends, my children. Won't you testify that a child of two years is put in a school? Their mother changes their clothes while they are sleeping. In nursery classes, nurses wash and change theirs pampers. So that they may learn something otherwise they’ll have no status in society.

They are prepared to have a status in society but what about their status before Allah when they will not study the Quran?

In their sixth or seventh year of age, it occurs to the religious-minded mother that her child didn't learn to read the Quran. So a cleric is called in and he starts teaching them the Quran. He keeps on reciting and makes the child mimic him and it continues on a daily basis and then, one day it is announced that the reading of the Quran is complete.

Parents are happy that their child has completed the reading of the Quran. They are through with their divine duty. Why don't you teach English books like this? Why the Urdu or Hindi books are not taught like this? Why?

I don't have any answer to this and you will agree that material needs, material resources, and material advancement are more important for us than closeness to God. If that is not so, please raise your hands.

Not one of you could raise your hand. Why? Can we show our face to Allah after death or in this life? It is said that Holy Prophet (PBUH) will intercede. Yes, he will intercede and God may accept his intercession, too.

You are all intellectuals, tell me, will Holy Prophet (PBUH) intercede for us? When we are not offering our Prayers, not fasting, we do lie, we deal in usury, we have animosities and we even slay our fellow beings. Are we acting upon the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)?

When we are not acting upon commandments, God says, (Arabic text) (Surah Hujrat: 14) "They say we have embraced Islam but belief and certainty haven't entered their hearts."

What does it mean? To be a Muslim is a category. Indeed, it is a big category because he saved himself from enjoining gods and infidelity. Let's consider an example. Although it's not a very good example. A person goes to a railway station, buys a ticket, and reaches the platform. But, She/he does not embark on the train and the train whistles off. Can we call that person wise or sensible by any chance? Now, you have to decide, where are we standing? Tell me! Say something. Anyone of you?

Audience...Standing upon the platform.

You are not sitting on the train. Standing upon the platform. Where are you heading for? Do you know what you are saying? Mian Sahib please stand up and tell me. What does it mean? Why did you purchase the ticket when you never wanted to embark on the train? When you didn't embark on the train, what will be your destination? What's your destination?

Mian Sahib: Destination was very much there in our minds.

Then? Then?

Mian Sahib: When we didn't embark, how will we reach the destination?

What's the destination for all, for you and me?

Mian Sahib: Allah!

Is it Allah or Paradise?

Mian Sahib: The Paradise!

Then?????

Main Sahib: We won't get there!

I didn't say that. Mark it. Mian Sahib said it. Listen to it, Lahore residents. I am not saying this, Mian Sahib has said that you will not get into Paradise.

Anyway, what was the third verse? I am getting forgetful nowadays. What was the third verse?

(Arabic text) God created the heavens and the earth. And heavens were graded into days and nights. And, this gradation has signs for those who ponder. Right!

God revealed the Quran so that people could read and recite it. Simply read it or have its understanding too? If you will say to read it then, you cannot pass the matriculation even.

Now, how many of you sitting here can raise your hands that they understand the Holy Quran? Raise your hands, why feel shy? Those who didn't raise their hands, I'll take them as they can understand and I will call them here on the stage and will ask them to tell us.

Then, shouldn't I be ashamed of it? We study English with understanding, we study Hindi , Chinese and Medicine with understanding. Every science that we study, we study it with comprehension but not the Quran. My friends, my children, when we won't study the Quran with understanding, how will we have the cognition of Allah? And, when we will not have the cognition of Allah, how will we be able to go to the Paradise of Allah? We are not aware of Allah nor of His signs. When you do not recognize Paradise, how will Paradise accept us?

Say loudly!

Those who think that Paradise will accept them, please stand up.

Why? No one is standing up? Please don't mind. I am not disgracing anyone. I just want to shake you up to awaken you.

Allah has said in the holy Quran, (Arabic text) Think, cogitate, know, learn, people of wisdom, which of the things will ye deny?

And, (Arabic text) (Surah Qamar: 55) That all have been explained in the holy Quran.

(Arabic text) (Surah Kahaf: 49) Each and everything be it small or big has been mentioned elaborately in the Holy Quran. God has promised that everything, be it small or big, has been elaborated in the Quran. Does science, all its inventions and discoveries not fall in this ambit? Everything (Arabic text) nothing is left out.

The Holy Quran, book of Allah has been given to the followers through the Holy Prophet (PBUH). And, he is the mercy for the worlds. (Arabic text).

Allah says, (Arabic text) He is the Lord of the worlds. What does Lord mean? Lord means the one who creates and provides resources and sustenance to His creatures in this life and the hereafter.

(Arabic text) (Surah Rome: 19) This cycle of life and death is a pattern. Life is brought out of death and death is drawn out of life. Isn't that so?

When we sow a seed in the land, doesn't it die and perishes due to the power of the earth? And, what happens after its annihilation? It sprouts. Yes, or no?

(Arabic text) (Surah Rome: 19) Draw death from life and extract life from death.

This means, before coming to this world, people already existed somewhere. All the religious scriptures be it Vedas, Bhagwat Gita, Torah, Bible, or the last Book; the Holy Quran say the same thing. Everything is altering and changing and there is no change in this changing. (Arabic text) (Surah Fatir: 43)

There is no change in the ways of Allah, the creative formulae, and the creative system of Allah. They are free from change.

Man after his/her creation came into being in the realm of the souls. From there he/she was transferred to the material world. After completing their growth here, they are transferred to Alam e Airaf. All the growth in the material world, is not a continuous display of existence and annihilation? A day-old child grows to be of two days. Where did his/her first day go? Didn't it annihilate?

When a one-year child turned to be two years, where did their first year go? Come on, tell me! Where did it go?

Audience... It vanished!

When that vanished, what happened? The second day emerged and when the second day vanished, what happened?

It can be said, life turned into death, and death transformed into life. Yes, or no?

(Arabic text) (Surah Rome: 19)

A change is taking place in life and death. Life is emerging from death and death is getting over life. When a child of a day grows to be two days, does his/her first day not die? This death is known as vanishing. When a one-year-old child grows to be a ten-year-old lad, does his/her nine years not vanish or die? Then that child grows to be a young man and then she/he grows old. What this old person will be called? Won't you call it a change?

I am an old man sitting before you. Hasn't my youth died? Old people fear that this old age will also be dead. Change and change.

(Arabic text) (Surah Rome: 19) This is a continuous system of Allah. One is born in the world. Grows and becomes young. Then, grows into old age. After growing old she/he keeps on decreasing so much so that they vanishe altogether. Then is transferred to Alam e Airaf. No one knows how long will they remain in Alam e Airaf. Then the Day of Judgment will arrive and then the Day of Reckoning. Then, what does death mean?

Yes, tell me! What does death mean?

Say, one of you, please stand up and tell.

Audience...Transferred to another realm.

Yes. Transferred, vanished, or annihilated?

We do not annihilate. These months and years also don't annihilate. These days and nights are also transferring. A child of one day is transferred into his second day. And, the child of two days enters the third day, and so on and so forth. Thus, this system keeps going on. This is the system of Nature.

Allah has stated in the Holy Quran, (Arabic text) (Surah...:..) It is the way, the system, and the law of Allah and there is no change nor it has any pause in it. When there is no change and the entire system is given by Allah, then how the system can be modified?

Then, there will be two systems. One will be Paradise and the other will be Hell. Now tell me, if I am not versed with Paradise, where I will be if I am not familiar with Paradise? How will I recognize it? How will I move into it?

If you do not know where Lahore is? Which train will you embark?

Audience... The one that will be heading for Lahore!

You have no idea of Lahore and you will embark on the train for Lahore?

You...Please you stand up. When you have no idea of the train heading for Lahore. How can you get on to it?

Gentleman... No. I won't!

But you were saying, you will!

Gentleman...No sir, that is not possible.

Ok, have your seat. Think before you leap.

I was kidding. please don't mind. It's been quite late. Now I'll wind up my speech. God has revealed the Holy Quran and sent all the prophets of God and made them testify the Last Prophet (PBUH). Every Scripture including Bhagwat Gita ,Torah, and all other divine books gave the glad tiding of a Prophet coming after them. In one place the name 'Farqaleet' is mentioned which means Ahmad (PBUH) and he will guide you and will correct all the wrongs of the religious system. And, will say all that is right and just. He will complete the system and will accept all the Scriptures revealed before him.

Have you read your Book; the Holy Quran? It does mention Hazrat Adam, Hazrat Abraham, Hazrat Ismail, Hazrat Isaac, Hazrat Jacob, Hazrat Moses, Hazrat Jesus, and the last Prophet (PBUH). This is being testified that God sent such a man as His Prophet (PBUH) who testified all the books that were revealed before him.

Now that person is acclaimed by Allah as the most trustworthy, straightforward and truthful person. He declared him to be His Beloved and the mercy for the worlds. God said, I am the Lord of the worlds and he is the distributor of mercies in the worlds.

And God says, (Arabic text) (Surah Maida:3)

Today, the system (Deen) and all its blessings have been perfected for you and Allah accepts his system Islam. This has been said in the Holy Quran and this also has been stated therein, (Arabic text) (Surah Ahzab: 40) There will be no prophet after My beloved (PBUH).

All the prophets of God gave the glad tiding of the holy Prophet's coming using different words, which all mean 'Ahmad'; the praised one. Holy Prophet (PBUH) came and testified all his predecessors and said that he was not saying anything new, he was testifying all that his brethren prophets had said.

So, we all know about his life, he was a trustworthy and straightforward person in his life. And, there will be no new system after him. Then, what we are supposed to do? Come on tell me. What we ought to do?

We have to have an understanding of the system (Deen). And, how can we understand the system (Deen)? When we will study the Holy Quran with understanding.

We can study English, Greek, Persian, and Arabic. All that we study and want to learn, God makes it easy for us to learn. And, when we will be keen to learn the Godly system; Islam, God will make that, too, easy for us.

(Arabic text) (Surah Qamar: 55) "We have made the comprehension of the Holy Quran easy. Is there anyone who wants to learn?"

Then, is there anyone desirous of learning the Quran?

Say loudly, Yes or no?

Then, what's our duty?

This was the main topic of my speech today. And, these are my closing remarks. This is not true that you cannot understand the Holy Quran. It is a lie and deceiving yourself.

(Arabic text) (Surah Aly Imran:54)

They are deceivers, shirkers, cheaters, and lie to God but Allah is well aware of them.

(Arabic Text)

My dear friends and brethren!

Doctor Sahib has come, he is my ombudsman as well and is telling me to stop.

I will request you all to study and make your children, too, to study Quran. I am not saying that you shouldn't be studying English or any other knowledge. It is the statement of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), get knowledge even if you have to go to China. Obviously, you won't go to China for learning Quran.

So read and study the Holy Quran and have its understanding.

(Arabic text) (Surah Qamar:...)

"We have made the comprehension of the Quran easy. Is there anyone who wants to have its understanding?"

And, if we will not learn the Quran and will not understand it, tell me are we fulfilling our duty as a Muslim? Tell me...loudly!

All audiences...No!

Then we are all required to pray to God and repent and seek His forgiveness and strive to learn the Holy Quran besides learning the worldly sciences.

May Allah keep you safe in His protection and happy and may bless you with higher ranks. Amen

You all came here. I am grateful to you. Give my love to your children, my prayers to ladies, and my warm regards to your friends. I shall be praying for you. You also keep me in your prayers.

Arabic Text (Assalam o Alykum wa rehamat Ullah wa Barakatuhu)
